The Reading Lesson

Post by jacynamommy » Fri Aug 27, 2010 7:27 am

I am SO proud of my 6 year old! We did LHFHG last year for kindergarten and started The Reading Lesson after a couple months of everything else (he wasn't interested and we also had a newborn). At first it seemed a bit of a struggle as he really wasn't interested in learning to read, so we just took our time. Over the summer we read lots and lots of books and he has been looking up and reading his own Scriptures from his Bible for out nighttime Bible reading. We are "back in school" and are finishing up The Reading Lesson before we jump into the emerging readers set. All that said to say that The Reading Lesson is GREAT!!! He is flying through it, and it is such a blessing to see him learning and growing by leaps and bounds in his reading. The Reading Lesson has truly made it easy to teach him how to read and is very simple and user-friendly. I will definitely use it for his sisters as they begin learning to read! I just wanted to share that for those of you who may be trying to decide what to use for Phonics...and are clueless like I was about what to choose! Thanks Carrie for the great suggestion!
Have a blessed day!

That's awesome to hear! :D I have heard wonderful things about The Reading Lesson. I am so glad your little guy has taken off reading, and it's encouraging you shared this here, as many moms are trying to choose a phonics program and feeling unsure of which way to go. :D

Meredith,

Thanks so much for sharing an update on your son's progress with The Reading Lesson. I know I always appreciate hearing comments from moms who have traveled down the road a bit and are looking back and reflecting on what was good. :D It helps others so much as they're figuring out what road to take with phonics too. :D

I'm so proud of your little guy as he's flying along in The Reading Lesson. I LOVE to see my kiddos take off as readers! I know it does this momma's heart good! :D

Blessings,
Carrie

I second that, Meredith! We are on the front end of TRL, about to start lesson 4, but WOW at the progress ds has made already! I was scared to death to try to teach phonics  , but TRL has made it easy peasy(that's what my son says  ) for us! I think its a great choice for some one who is totally overwhelmed with the thought of teaching phonics. Great recommendation, Carrie!
