Switching my little guy back to Singapore...

Post by Tree House Academy » Mon Aug 16, 2010 9:25 pm

and I am asking that you all pray with me that this is what we need. He is a struggling math student (though advanced in reading and all things "English"). We are using Beyond and I decided to give the Singapore 1A a try since I really like the extras that Carrie gives in the manual. I am excited to get started with him. Until then, we will continue to go through his CLE 2 math slowly. His biggest struggle is subtraction....and I think it is more of a "concept" issue than anything else. He did well with time, money, fractions, etc. I am not opposed to using both CLE and Singapore if that is necessary to keep him going with what he does understand while remediating what he doesn't.

We used Singapore for about a year before we tried CLE. The only thing I didn't like was that Singapore didn't do drills or flash cards (two of my younger son's most hated things about math). Hopefully this time we can just add in the flash cards and still be okay.

I said a prayer for ds about this, Rebecca! :D The hands-on math in Beyond is too good to pass up and builds a good foundation for the rest of Singapore. I'm glad your little guy will get to do it. :)

In Christ,
