making customizable spelling worksheets - recommends?

Post by Tabitha » Fri Aug 20, 2010 8:57 am

Has anyone found a good program online that you can use to make customizable spelling worksheets.

I wanted to have fun with dd with year and come up with other things to do. We use to use R&S for spelling, and I've looked at a few other things to see what all they entail.

But to make crossword puzzles, word searches, spelling sheets, and games, that you can print out using words that HOD provides. Anyone have a source?

One source had word shape worksheets. I thought that was interesting, but not sure how I feel about using them. I am only use to word shapes in regards to how I learned fingerspelling in college. Seeing the shape of the word. I know sight reading can go a bit that way, and I haven't looked into it much, since I don't teach how to read via sight reading (except for those words that only work that way).

I found one place, but it's all online games. I don't want that.

Worse case I can use the site that does the online games and write up my own worksheets.

http://www.spellingcity.com has exactly that. We are using it with dd for now to work on some words she misspells ALL THE TIME in her writing. You can put in up to 15 words (maybe more, I'm not sure) and under the games category you are able to then print out crosswords, a sentence-writing page, a word match, and lots more. And it's free. Check it out...might be what you're looking for...
