Do I need anything else? (Beyond/Bigger)

Hello.
I've just ordered the Beyond and Bigger sets and need help figuring out what else we need.

I have the Beyond Package with everything including Emerging Readers, DITHOR manual, Student Book 2/3, and Handwriting (Getty-Dubay) for my 2nd grade dd. I'm not sure about the Math. I may go ahead and try Singapore since she's only had 1 year of Math (CLE).....I haven't ordered the Level 2 Readers yet. Can I get these from our library as needed? I know these Readers go with DITHOR, but is there some other Reading Package? I should probably know this answer by now!

For my 6th grade dd I've ordered Bigger and I'll use the Extensions (can't remember if this was included in the package that I bought...used).I've ordered different things for her to use for Math, Rod and Staff 4, and Handwriting (Getty-Dubay).I still need to order the DITHOR Student book 4/5. If I can, I plan on using the library with Carrie's suggested books for her, too.

I guess I'm confused because with the DITHOR package, there is a suggested reading list that you can order for $5.00. Is this list different from the packages? I looked at the Level 5/6 book list for her and also checked the Bookstore list where you can put together your own package. I know I'm probably not making any sense at all!

I guess I need to know is the DITHOR Manual, Student Book, and book package all that they need? Are there separate lists for read-alouds and independent reading? Maybe I'm getting confused because my 6th grader will need an Extension package.....?

Sorry to ramble. Please help!

Hi and congrats on your upcoming purchase! Let's see if I can help you sort through this. Here's what I see that would be needed.

Needs for Beyond:
Economy Pack (manual and 3 history books)
Basic Pack (science, math, devotional, music CD is optional)
Choose Phonics, Emerging Readers or DITHOR teacher and student manuals
Then you would want to choose a storytime set or use the library.
Finally you could choose a DITHOR book set if you are using this program or you could use the library for readers for the child.

The book list you mentioned would list readers for each of your children at their level in each of the 9 genres. This may be handy if you don't get a readers package.

Needs for Bigger for 6th grader:
Economy Pack (manual and 4 history books)
Science Add-ons (6 science books)
Extension Pack (14 history books and 2 science books)
DITHOR student materials
DITHOR book set or use library for readers for the child.
Devotional book and Hymns book with CD.
Then you would choose English and math at appropriate levels.
Finally you would choose a storytime set or use the library.

I hope that helps you double check your list.

For the 2nd grader in Beyond you would either do Emerging Readers OR DITHOR, not both.... Emerging Readers is after they are through with phonics, but before they are ready for DITHOR.

Thanks! It does help to double check my list. I really didn't need the Emerging Readers set for Beyond, but they came like that, so I bought them. I can always use the library and sell those.

In regards to the reading list, it's books, other than listed on the site, listed by grade and genre.
