Gotta Share

Got to share :D
Yesterday I had the opportunity to share my dd's CTC history note book and her portfolio notebook with our pastor. Grant it, we still have 10 units left to do, but it was a pleasure to show him the work dd has done. At the beginning of our school year last year, I had actually sought his opinion on HOD. I had printed out the introduction pages and week at a glance for Preparing and CTC, and asked him to look over them (he used to be a private school principal). So it was really neat to take to him the notebooks for him to see the kind of work that was done. He thought it was extrodinary to see the indepth use of the Bible with curriuclum, to which is something so very lost on the majority of our youth today. Our pastor absolutely loved the notebooking pages. He enjoyed the generations of Adam project page, and smiled at how we used the tape recorder to record her field notes in geography. He has seen throughout the year during teen chapel how she was able to contribute knowledge and understanding during particular lessons, and can definitely see how she has gained that through CTC this past year. I showed him the catalog and the glimpse of what we will be moving into once we finish CTC. I aslo shared with him our plan to extend dds middle school years by doing an extra 7th (RTR) and 2 years of 8th (the following guides) with an eye toward being able to use the geography guide as her 9th grade year. The plan has a two fold reasoning: 1. slowing dd down to allow her time to grow and mature and most importantly take a firm grasp on all her academics before moving into the highschool realm and 2. to be able to enjoy a full line of HOD ( and prayfully all the way through highschool).

So again, I'd thought I'd share what our pastor had to say about HOD. Hats off to you Carrie.. you've been pastor approved! :D

How neat!

I just ordered my 11yo dd's CTC items tonight. I am excited.

I so LOVE the student notebook pages included with CTC. I wish that was something offered for all the younger curriculums as well. We've had a few binder accidents where papers go scattering (plus one uncle kicked one across the schoolroom when dd laid it by her seat, breaking the binder. sigh).
17 yo dd - finishing WH, Geometry, German, Music, Media Art - filmaking, stop animation, etc.
14 yo dd - finishing RTR & TT7, Piano, Animal Shelter Volunteer.
11 yo dd - CTC, finishing up TT5, Piano.

Jasmine,

Your post spoke to heart so much today! :D I am thrilled to hear that your sweet daughter is growing in the Lord and that our guides play a part in that growth! :D We appreciate your thoughts on the Student Notebook too, as our recent one for RTR has been an immense project! Yet, the notebook pages are truly a beautiful keepsake and your post encourages me in knowing that they also work toward sharing the good news of Jesus through their pages. :D

Nothing could be more important for eternity! Thanks so much for sharing! :D

Blessings,
Carrie

That is high praise indeed all around! :D As teachers of our dc, we are held to a higher standard (as pastors are being teachers/leaders of a body of believers), and I'm glad to hear he approved. :D
