Draw and Write Through History in Preparing?

Post by kiloyd » Tue Aug 10, 2010 9:33 pm

Do I need this? I'm not going to buy the package it's in right now but will buy the Draw and Write Through History If I'll need it.

What is the first unit it's used in? I might just wait and get that whole package it's in later.

Thanks
Katherine

It's part of the Independent History Study and we start using it in Unit 1.

My ds really enjoyed Draw and Write Through History even though he struggles with drawing. It gives nice step by step drawing instructions so for us it was the Art instruction I wanted him to have. You use it starting in Unit 1 and it is alternated with some of the other Independent History books for many weeks.

This could have been my post. :D I cannot believe what Draw and Write... has done to improve my ds's drawing - both the way it looks and his attitude toward it. You've probably read my ds's progression with that if you read the past weekly check-ins last year, but I cannot say enough good about both the Draw and Write... books and the art painting (in CTC). They've turned my non-artsy son into a pretty good artist. :D

This book is great!! My son didn't enjoy it at first, so I started drawing with him. We had a lot of fun. I am terrible at drawing and I learned so much. We really enjoyed using this book and look forward to using another one!

We loved it, too. :D And Grant is looking forward to using the next one in line this year in CTC. In fact he was just telling Dad at lunch yesterday how these books could help him learn to draw much better. My husband had said something about not being able to draw very well (while Allison was showing off some artwork, I believe). Anyway, he gave a great commercial for them!!

I love the skills that my kids are learning with HOD! (I am one who does not do much visual art as I was sure I wasn't good at it and didn't even want to try. I'm so happy to see my kids willing to try whatever is asked of them and see all they CAN learn!)
