Yay, for decision-making! You'll love HOD. We do....now if I could just decide exactly what I'm doing with my olders I could place an order too!

Heather,
Well I have a crazy plan for this year, but I still think it will be less work than using textbooks for everyone.

This is my plan:
17 dd CTC independantly (she saw the catalog and asked to do this)
13 dd Preparing, mostly independant with notes of when to see me
10 dd Beyond or Bigger (I ordered both, because I still wasn't sure; she has sensory issues and asperger's
6 and 8 dd's Little Hands
4 and 2 dd's Little Hearts

This was really the only way I could figure out how to do this with their ages and abilities.

This is the first curriculum that we already have many of the books on our shelves; so I figured it would be a good fit. :D We're quite picky about the books we allow in our home.

Guess I need to take the time to do a signature thingy!

Laurie--I'm SO excited to see you using HOD with your older kids!! I have even been second-guessing myself and wondering if we shouldn't be doing "Preparing" this year instead of CTC (for our almost 13yo, 8th grader). How exciting that we can now share our years together here with our older HOD kids!! :) Nice to "meet" you!!

Heather,
It's nice to "meet you" too. And yes, it will be fun to share what we're doing with our older HOD kids. My older two originally weren't going to do HOD, but my husband thought it would be good for the 13yr old, and I guess the 17yr old was a little jealous over the neat books in the catalog. Ah, the joys of homeschooling! I'm very thankful my children still love to learn in spite of me and all the different things we've tried over the years.

inHistiming,
Did you figure out what you're doing with your older ones yet? Sometimes it just seems so overwhelming to figure out and then I'm always second-guessing afterwards. I think what helped me most was seeking the Lord a lot the last two weeks. That and my husband told me no more switching. So HOD it is for the rest of our homeschool years. But I've never been this excited about a curriculum before. :D

Laurie,

Congrats on placing your order! :D Make sure when that delivery truck arrives that you have time to enjoy all the wonderful books from HOD! It was like Christmas (for me) when mine came!

We now have one week under our belts, and are completely loving it! It has totally changed our schooldays. The love of learning has been restored to our home. We're even ~gasp~ having "fun" doing school! What a blessing HOD is!

Blessings as you begin your HOD journey!

In Christ,

Lisa

Lisa,
Every year at this time is like Christmas here too! My children are already asking, "When can we start school, Mom?" :D Hopefully that joy will continue throughout the year.

I'm hoping to start in a couple of weeks, but we shall see. We have birthday season here with 5 birthdays starting the 17th through Sep. 9th, plus my inlaws are planning to visit the end of this month. My parents want to visit too, but when depends on weather and harvest for my Dad. So my plan is to get a week in before my inlaws come since they are staying about 4 days since they want to go to SD to visit my oldest three too.
