Help! My Manual is falling apart!

Post by eachlee » Wed Aug 04, 2010 9:16 pm

Hi Ladies,
Can someone tell me what to do with my LHTH manual? I did the photocopying for the rest of the year tonight and the second half of the book has pages that are falling out!! When I first copied the letter flash cards the binding started to fall apart and I thought if I taped those pages back in and was careful it wouldn't continue. Alas, it has continued and now I'm worried I will have a pile of papers by the end of the school year rather than a nice manual to use with my next little guy.
Thanks!!
Nancy :D

Try calling them. That happened with my Preparing Manual and they sent me a new one. It eventually fell apart to but not until the end of the year. The previous years we didn't have that problem. They were great about taking care of it though.

I'd say that's odd, too. My LHTH manual has been very well-used & loved & hauled all over the place....and it looks GREAT! :D The bindings that HOD uses are TOUGH!

another option, but it would cost you, is to get it spiral-bound at Staples or Office Depot, etc. It would make it easier to make copies next time around. Also, some people like their guides in page protectors in binders. I haven't had any pages fall out but I do not like the curled corners of the guides. Been thinking about covering them w/ contact paper because the corners get so tired. :D

I was going to suggest this also. I plan to do this with all of my manuals anyway.

Spiral binding is not really that expensive, I really enjoy having my manuals spiral bound.

I remember reading another post awhile ago and I'm pretty sure HOD will send you a new one if the binding falls apart. I would do what someone above suggested...call them! I believe they're made with a special binding to lay flat & not fall apart. HOD's customer service is top-notch! :D

HOD stands behind their products and has excellent customer service. :D If you got your manual from HOD, they will definitely replace it. They pay extra money to have lay flat binding, which the printing company says is super tough. I have never had a guide fall apart yet, and I'm on about my 5th. time through my LHTH copy (used it at church for 2 years with a group of 2-4 yo's, and 3 years now with my 3 sons). They're usually pretty durable, so provided you got it from them, you can give them a call and they'll replace it for sure. :D

You could hole punch it and put it in a binder.

I am taking mine to Staples to get them to hole punch it and remove the cover. I am then going to put it in a matching binder (green for Bigger) with a window pocket that holds the covers. I am going to tab it weekly and move the weekly poetry, weekly spelling and current emerging reader schedule up to the week I am on so I do not have to keep flipping back and photocopying will be easier.

I was really upset when I set my book down wrong and put a huge crease in my Beyond TM. The pages got turned up at the corners and I only used it for 10 weeks! I guess I must not be as careful as most and with a houseful, stuff gets dropped a lot, so I am hoping a binder will keep it nicer.

Thanks for all your suggestions! :D I did as suggested and called and I'm getting a new manual!!!! I am so amazed with the customer service, I didn't even have to 'prove' that my manual is indeed falling apart. They are sending a new one out right away. I'm so happy!!

Thank you to HOD for AMAZING customer service!!!

Nancy,

I'm so glad that you have this resolved! Our manuals are meant to be super-tough. My boys have hauled ours everywhere and never had one come apart. So, I'm glad you'll get a new one! Enjoy! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
