My 9 yoa ds and I are having such a good time with Preparing! We started last week (since we ended a month early last year) and it is amazing! I am so thankful for finding this program! It suits us to a "T". Although we've always homeschooled, we are new to CM. I don't know how to explain it but somehow (so far) we are covering things more thoroughly and yet we still have time for "other stuff". I had time to play, vacuum the floor and grind flour! Wow! That never happened before! I have always loved to read to Jake and he has always been a great listener...such precious memories of cuddling up on the couch to read. I realize now that in trying to do all the (nonsense) we did last year, just enjoying books had fallen by the wayside. (Can you believe it?...and we both loooove to read) Now our special reading time has been restored and we even have time for art/science projects and fiddle practice which are things that seem to have gotten neglected as well. (We have used unit studies which we loved but were soooo much work for me and textbooks which were dull and time consuming!) Jake was an only until he was 7 and now we have a 2yoa ds and a 4 month old dd...I figured we would have trouble getting used to "extra folks" around while we are doing school...it hasn't been exactly a piece of cake but I'm so encouraged by how this program works that I'm thinking, "we can do this! Yay!"...Also, I probably would not have added poetry to our curriculum. Jake loves it! Who knew? Yes, I feel confident that we will be covering all the needed academics but best of all, I loooove the way Hod has brought God to the center, even scheduling a quiet time with God for Jake. We've always used "bible-based" curriculums but this one really is about developing a relationship with God not just knowing about him. Lastly, I love Carrie's book choices...Dithor is awesome...what a relief to have good solid material picked out...I value the amount of time you have saved me in locating these books, Carrie! Thank you!

That's wonderful, Jody! I'm celebrating with you and your ds Jake today. HOD just keeps getting better and better, year after year. We loved "Grandpa's Box" especially along with many other titles in PHFHG. CTC was awesome too! You have many living books ahead of you to enjoy together, so forget about that year of missing reading with one another, you have many excellent, worthy to read books in the wings with HOD! Thanks for sharing here!
