scheduling/routine ?

Post by MomtoJGJE » Fri Jun 18, 2010 5:51 am

Ok, I know some of you have wonderful schedules... I need help. What we have been doing is no longer working as DD4 is no longer BECOMING mobile, she is VERY mobile.... And I cannot for the life of me figure out a schedule/routine/whatever that will work. I don't want times, just to figure out how school will run daily. Right now here is what we are doing in school...

Jayden - 6 weeks of Beyond left.... going full speed
Grace - LHTH (with Julianna) and LHFHG right hand side, either full or half speed, let's pretend it's always full speed ;)
Julianna - LHTH (with Grace) and other fine motor skills workbooks (again, pretending we do both every day)

and then we have Evie who is 14mo... Jayden and Grace can take her outside with no one else, Julianna is not allowed to yet. Another note, they do like to play on the computer.

ETA: Jayden is semi-independent with the right hand side of Beyond. Well, not storytime, but the rest of it.

I have learned (and we only have two :) ) that when they are young we have to make up a schedule that fits into their routine and worry about a good school routine later. Perhaps in the am you could send the oldest out with baby and do LHTH with the other two, then work on finishing up workbooks with them one at a time while the other two are watching baby. You could also use the computer or DVD during this time. Then in pm when hopefully your 14 month is still taking a nap (I had one that quit way too early, but we did make it to 24 months), you could do Beyond with your older, leaving the part she is independent in for last so if nap ends before you are done she could kind of work on her own with assistance. It can be hard, we actually do schoolwork with our oldest in the evening right now, which is working very well, but will obviously have to change down the road. Hang in there, I am sure others will have some more advice to offer.

Oh if she'd drop naps that would make things SO much easier! She's still in that back and forth stage of needing and not needing a morning nap, which makes it difficult.

I'm not worried about times.. I just need a schedule to say who's with her while who is doing school, but for some reason I'm not getting it to work out!
