Sad to leave Beyond behind

Post by pjdobro » Tue Jun 01, 2010 3:53 pm

As we were doing our Bible verse today, I mentioned that this is the last one that we'll be putting in our notebook for the year since this is our last week of Beyond. My ds got the saddest look on his face. I thought he was actually going to cry. When I asked him what was wrong, he said he didn't want to be done with Beyond. He wanted it to keep going. My dd was sad as well so I had to get out all of the Bigger things and show them what was coming up next before we could continue with today's lessons. We looked at the front of all of the guides we have (Little Hearts, Beyond, and Bigger), and they were comparing how the children on the front are getting bigger just like them. :) They are still sad about leaving Beyond behind, but excited to start Bigger in the fall. :D I couldn't help but beam inside when thinking about it because most children by this time of year just want school to be over and definitely aren't looking forward to the fall, but my dc are sad to see school end and can't wait until we start again. What a great testament to HOD! Thanks Carrie! :D

that is so cool! My dd was so happy to finish but now I have a new summer schedule up (cooking cleaning and chores) and she is asking when can we start bigger.

LOL! That's funny. I haven't broken it to my dc yet that I'm in the process of working out a new chore chart.

:D I just had to add that my children have also noticed that the boys on the front of the guides are growing. Isn't it funny what they take in? And we loved Beyond...as well (and Bigger). I'm looking forward to going back through it with my younger ds soon.

Patty,

Thanks so much for sharing your end of the year story! :D It blesses my heart so much to hear about kiddos being sad to leave their HOD guide behind. I know my boys feel that way too. :D What a different experience that is from my last days each year of public school!

Blessings,
Carrie

inHistiming,

I love the thought that your kiddos noticed that my boys (and my sweet niece) are growing up each year on the covers of the guides too! :D It makes me teary-eyed to see how much they have grown. Yet, they are becoming men in the Lord's eyes which is what He has planned for them to be. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
