NOT burned out!

Post by Busymomma1 » Thu May 20, 2010 6:40 pm

Hi everyone,
This is just one of those posts to say that, after completing Beyond last week... I'm NOT a burned-out homeschool mom! Yeah! I actually am motivated to keep my kiddos reading and practicing some necessary skills over the summer, as well as working on getting some things ready for Bigger in the fall. Last year, after having done "my own thing", when we finished school for the year, I couldn't bear to even think about doing such things! (It wasn't that bad, but... not that good, either). My kiddos were also not looking forward to starting again after the summer. Well, obviously, we came back to HOD and had a good year. I told them we'd have more fun, and we did! :-)

So anyway, that just dawned on me today... that I'm going strong, and I can thank HOD for that! Thanks Carrie!

I started off homeschooling with HOD and have always ended bittersweet with the manuals. Sad to end one and extremely excited to get to the next one! :( :D Every year I wonder if it can get any better and it has. :P This year with Bigger I am so impressed with all the skills my ds is learning. What's most exciting is that I get to do each manual at least 3 times. Imagine how smart I will be at the end
I am glad that you ladies feel the same way as well. There is no running around trying to figure out what to do with your kiddo's, it's all written down and as the years go by and you do it for the 2nd and 3rd time around, you start to also go a little quicker, knowing what is coming and understanding the material better yourself.

I feel exactly the same. Today is our last day of Preparing and both Noah and I are sad. It is like saying goodbye to a good friend. Last night I sat down with the CTC guide just to remind myself how great next year will be. Since this is my first year of homeschooling I had so many homeschooling veterans warn me about how burnt out I would be in February and how I would be ready for the year to end and that it was ok to feel that way etc, but honestly that has not been the case at all. I couldn't ask for a better first year.

I am looking forward to starting HOD this fall and NOT being burned out! Thank you for the encouragement and confirmation that I am making the best choice for my dc. We have one month left on our current curriculum and I am looking forward to the end of this one.

Yup! We still have another 5-6 weeks left to go with Bigger, and I'm already looking forward to starting Preparing! I will enjoy the break, but it's nice to know that good things are ahead!
