Thursday night I was talking with DH and I told him that I thought she might have some problems with math and explained how Singapore is different from other math programs. He agreed that if they solely test her on addition with a bit of subtraction she might be a little lower than her actual abilities. And that's what they did... they had her do a bunch of math problems as a timed test. So what she did, she got correct, but she didn't do them as fast as the testing person thought she should... she suggested we get a timer and train her on how to do a timed math test. I smiled and nodded and told DH that I really couldn't care less how fast she does the math as long as she knows how to get the right answer. We'll work on that if we ever decide to put her in school.
But it was really nice for me to see that the subjects that HOD (and our home) puts first are the ones she did well on (she did well on all of it, but best on) like reading comprehension AND fluency... they actually wrote that she was "superior" to others of her level in her broad knowledge!
Thanks to HOD for making it easy for mom's to teach the important things!!
