Weight Loss Challenge Weigh-In (Week One)

Post by inHistiming » Fri Mar 07, 2008 6:59 am

Okay, here goes:

Starting weight: 157

Today's Weight: 156

Loss: 1lb.

Initial Weight Loss Goal: 140

I am a member at www.jillianmichaels.com; utilizing meal plans and exercise plans. I was supposed to exerise 5 days this week. I actually only did 3 times this week. With my daughter sick, I was unable to make it to the gym, and of course it's harder to get motivated at home!I have found that, when I really need a snack, I can grab some fruit or vegetables with a bit of dip. This, along with a cup of milk, will quench my hunger and help me wait until the next meal. My goal this week is to add more water to my diet. What are your goals?

Inhistiming, we have the same starting weight!!

I started mid December at 157.
I've been stuck at 151 for weeks.
FINALLY, today .......... 148!!
Initial goal - fit into black dress for cruise in July (probably another 10 pounds).
Final goal - 125.

What's working - cutting out snacks, smaller portions, no seconds at dinner.
What's not - Sick kids, having kids that eat 10 meals a day (when not sick), girl scout cookies coming this week, my love for baking, No gym membership and too cold to go outside and walk.

This week - I'm going to try to drink more water - especially before meals and find some escape to go walking.

Who's next??

momof4, way to go! That's a three-pound loss. Woo-hoo! I agree, the sick kids definitely get inthe way of my exercise; not much we can do about that, though!

Hubby, bless his heart he's so sweet, brought home chocolates for me when he came back from Europe. So far, I have avoided eating any of them. I think I'll save them, and have 1 as a treat every so often. Just have to make sure I have the willpower. :?

I'm next.

Starting weight: 125.8
Goal: to fit back in my summer items.
Target weight: 115 or so (I'm short and of a small build so this is ideal)

What works: Nothing so far. I'm nursing, so maybe that's why.
What doesn't work: baking and snaking kids and cold weather

This next week, I'm going to exercise at least 3 times. I'm off to a good start this morning. 20 minutes on the treadmill.

Great job, Crystal! And keep in mind, the smaller you are and the less weight you have to lose, the slower it comes off. But, slow weight loss is supposed to best; I hear it stays off that way. :o

I'm not exactly sure what I weigh(we don't have a scale.) The last time I was at the dr's I was 167. I was at my best at about 140, but that was pre- kid. I hope to lose about 20lbs. which would take me to 147.
I exercised once, but plan on today as well.
Diet was ok.
I need to focus on adding more fruit/veggies, less other carbs.
Not eating at night.
Being consistent with exercise.
It is hard when the kids are eating all day.

I don't have a scale here at home but, I am around 135. I want to get rid of 10-15 lbs. but heck, 5 would even be nice. I have a lot of jeans that sit in my closet because I cannot button them anymore. Very frustrating!

I would like to use my treadmill daily, even if it is a short session.

I really need to eat better. I am going to keep an eye out for healthy recommendations on this board.

Start weight- 164.8.
Today - 163.6.
I lost 1.2 pounds (I have a digital scale that records fractions of pounds, every little bit matters, lol!)
I think having you all here is helping, as it's been a while since I've lost anything!
My goal is to lose at least 15 pounds total, but 20 would be better. I am 5'3", and a little muscular (4 years ago, I used to be an orange belt in tae quon do, and did Scottish Country dancing weekly, and walked everywhere-then I moved here and haven't ever gotten back to that level of activity-yet  )
Pre-kids, I used to weigh about 120 lbs, but I was pretty scrawny then. My doctor said to allow 5 extra pounds for each pregnancy, so that's 120 plus 25 pounds for me, which would make a normal weight 145. That's why I would prefer losing 20 lbs. total, and will be satisfied at a weight that is more than when I was not a mom :)
I am doing Pilates 3x a week and I plan to increase my walking, despite not having anywhere to walk to
I have stuck with my eating plan all week :D
I have also remembered to drink more water-extra important since I live in a dry climate.

I also have a ton of jeans sitting in my closet  Size 6's, 8's, and 10's. I am currently wearing 12's to 14's.

How about some good recipes from the week? Here's mine.

Broccoli and Artichoke Fritatta
2 eggs
7oz. artichokes
2/3 cup broccoli crowns
salt/pepper to taste
1/8 tsp. red pepper flakes
1 love garlic
cooking spray or 2 tsp. oil

Spray pan with cooking spray, or use 1 tsp. oil, and heat on med./low. Place broccoli and red pepper flakes in pan; cook until tender. Remove from pan and place on a plate; wipe out pan. Whisk eggs together, adding artichokes, salt, and pepper. Spray pan again with spray, or use remaining 1 tsp. oil. Pour in egg mixture, red pepper flakes, and garlic; cook on med./low until bottom is golden brown. Put oven on broil, with rack 4 inches from element. Remove pan from burner, and place in oven. Cook until top is set, about 6-8 minutes. Makes 1 serving; serve with 1 piece of light whole wheat bread. Yummy! :P

inHistiming,
How are those chocolates going? My MOPS coordinator brought me back some chocolates from Belgium. If they weren't so pretty (different shaped seashells), they'd be gone already!! I've been keeping myself to one a day - mostly. The girl scout cookies on the other hand are not so pretty and I'm having more than alittle trouble avoiding them!! At least, they don't sell them all year round.

blessedmomof4, we're the same height and same size and our names are similar. Are you my secret twin??

Have good afternoon! I'm off to take care of the sick kids again!

Ok...you gals have given me courage.
Today: 164
Goal: 154
My goal is to be back to what I was pre-kids. I probably need to actually lose a little more than that, because I'm pretty "soft" right now. I need to get some muscle back. (Even when I make it back to that weight, nothing seems to be the same after kids... , but I know you all know that. :D )
I LOVE to exercise...but it's hard to fit in with homeschooling. When it's nice (and not too muddy), I'll be outside running again, until then I'll keep doing my 20 min pilates video.

Ladies,

In light of this topic being 'off-topic', could we pm each other with weights, recipes, goals, etc.? I don't want to take away from what Carrie and Mike are trying to do with this board. I apologize for this; I do want to still try to support each other in this. PM me with what you think. Thanks! :o

inHisTiming,

You are so gracious! Thank you for being so understanding! I do think the weight loss topic is near and dear to many of our hearts, and I would truly love to encourage this! I know from personal experience that weight loss goals go so much better when women can encourage one another in this area!

I'm wondering if one of you ladies has a blog where you could just post a weekly check-in for everyone from here to gather and check-in with their Friday weight loss goals. Or if anyone has any other ideas for where best to share the check-in, you could post it here, so anyone interested knows where to check-in? :D

Blessings,
Carrie

The Blog is a good suggestion, Carrie. I may do that. I'll post the link when I get it going. :)
