HOW many book sets do I need?

Again, I apologize if this is clear to others. I'm almost through the catalog, though and then I will stop posting so many questions (for a time!)

Does a child doing CTC need, for example, a "boy interest" book set PLUS a "book pack" from the DITHOR list?

I wish I knew SOMEONE locally who was using HOD! Then I'd bug THEM instead.

You either purchase the history interest read aloud option or the boy/girl interest read aloud, not both.
Edited: Oops! I didn't seet the DITHOR in your post The above book packs are meant for read alouds, so I would also get the correct DITHOR package.

Thanks - to make sure I got it - I need a CTC book pack choice AND I need a book pack for the DITHOR, correct? I'm going with that unless someone else corrects me.

You will only actually use 5 genres for DITHOR in a year though. It's scheduled 3 times a week from Preparing on up...so it will take 2 years to get through all 9 genres. Does that make sense?

Yes, you need story time books for CTC and books for your child to read for DITHOR. If money is a problem, I've been able to find some of the titles at our local library and others I have been able to swap for at Paperbackswap.com. Hope that helps.
