Hi,
When doing spelling as in the guides (studied dictation), and not using a spelling curriculum, how will something like syllabication be covered? I think dictionary skills, homonyms, synonyms would be covered in the English text, but I don't know about syllabication. Is it not necessary? I would love not to use a separate spelling curriculum.
Thank you!

Spelling Question - syllabication

Re: Spelling Question - syllabication
Donna Jo,
Syllabication is covered within the study of dictionary skills as that is the place where syllables are marked and shown. It is also usually covered to some degree within phonics instruction. Since the purpose for syllabication is knowing where to divide words when writing them, it makes sense to cover it within the study of dictionary skills.
You won't need a separate program for syllabication.
Blessings,
Carrie

Re: Spelling Question - syllabication
Thanks! syllabication has helped my kids with learning to spell too, learning to speak/articulate as well. The spelling workbook we have been using (R&S 4) teaches the rules of syllabication, so I didn't know if I needed to continue with that, but I would love to drop the spelling workbook if possible. I will use the dictionary, as you said, and maybe a list of syllabication rules.
Thank you!
