Another question about being able to use HOD stuff

Post by SoaringEagle » Sat Mar 01, 2008 6:44 pm

Would the program still work -all levels- if I substitute a different Math & English & maybe Spelling than the one suggested? I like Early Bird Singapore but not sure about the other levels...might want a more traditional math instead.

Yes! It will absolutely work. We are using R&S Math and Spelling and it works wonderfully. I happen to use R&S for LA but use it on a different level than in the guide so really it could be anything. Bottom line, use whatever works for your family. The program is still wonderful. However, want to warn you that you may find yourself incorporating some of Carries ideas because they are so great! 8)

Ditto! :D We started off using a different reading and math. I'm switching to Carrie's ideas for reading/language arts for next year. They are easy, they work, and they are practical.

This is one of the only programs I know of that makes "customizing" so easy! :D

Definately! I am using Little Hearts and I use Horizons K for Math and First Reader & ETC for phonics. The program is still working very well for us. I just skip the math activities each day. HTH!

MamaJuli,

The ladies are doing a wonderful job of answering your questions! Aren't the ladies on the board great! 8)

One of the wonderful parts of our programs is that you can easily customize your own language arts and math if you choose. You'll also have a great back-up plan in our guides if you ever need it. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

that's why we chose HOD in the beginning-so I could do what I thought was best in other areas. But now for next year we are in Melanie's boat-taking Carrie's lead and using it as is!

I am currently trying out Beyond with my DD and use Horizons math, ROd and staff science and social studies, spelling and reading workbook from the bookstore. We are trying Singapore math right now and it looks like I will be using Singapore next year with Bigger. I will be using First Language Lessons instead of Rod and Staff. Its working out well for us now and don't want to change it. Math is being a pain and that is why I am changing it.
