An aha moment

Post by blessedmomof4 » Fri Feb 29, 2008 10:00 pm

We were watching "Who Wants to be a Millionaire", and one of the questions was, "Which of the following Native Americans famously visited King James I" The choices were Massasoit, Pocahontas, Sacagawea, and Sitting Bull. The contestant phoned a friend, who didn't know. The contestant quit because he didn't know. Too bad he didn't ask my 3rd and 4th graders, who instantly said "Pocahontas, of course-we read about it." :D

Lourdes,

Isn't that the truth! My kiddos have soaked up so much more history knowledge than I ever had in all of my school years, and I was considered to be an excellent student.

I quickly realized when my oldest son and I started in on his first grade history (and I was reading things I'd never heard before) how much I had missed!

I have so many AHA moments now. That must be why researching history has become my insatiable passion! 8)

Blessings,
Carrie

Too cute! I know that made you feel so good about how much they're learning---too bad though for the person on the show---they could have used some help from the HOD kids!!
Moving along at our own pace, and very happy with it!

I'm cracking up! Apparently none of them watched Pocahontas II....the very "historically accurate" Disney version! I think my kiddos would've got that one just from seeing the movie.

My dd's LOVE Pocahontas and are sooo excited that we will be studying that next week in LIttle Hearts. After all their confusion with Martin Luther, this week should be easier.
