Writing question???
Are there any of you with 11 and 12 year old children who just use Rod and Staff but do not add any extra writing (creative) program to the HOD plans you are using? Just curious...

Re: Writing question???
I don't use R&S (will for next year) but I don't add any extra writing. My daughter doing Preparing gets enough writing with that, she isn't big on writing to begin with. I am not too concern yet because when she is on her own she writes up creative stories for herself and everyone in the family.

Re: Writing question???
playschool,
If you are using the level of Rod and Staff which matches your child's grade level, then the writing instruction in Rod and Staff is definitely enough. The reason we schedule additional writing instruction in our HOD manuals is because we use Rod and Staff at a less rigorous pace, taking two years to cover some levels instead.
We find this to be plenty of grammar instruction without burning kiddos or parents out.
However, when doing Rod and Staff this way, the writing instruction needs to be adjusted accordingly to cover needed writing skills for high school preparation.
Blessings,
Carrie
