Any updates on Carrie's family?

Post by sted » Fri Oct 23, 2009 8:10 pm

I've been checking for an update about how her kids are doing with the flu. Any word on that?

We've been hard hit here as well which has set us back this week in terms of school. Hopefully we can recover and get back to a "normal" schedule.

Thanks,
Shannon

Thanks for asking! Greyson is over the influenza now, and just getting his energy back. So far, no one else has gotten it. They thought Shaw had it, but he had something else - stomach flu or something. Beau seems to be on the mend, and his incision is healing. He has his recheck coming up, so that will be good, as he still seems to be in some pain. Carrie plans to be back on the board next week. She's been using every spare minute to stay ahead of planning the new guide for Cole (her oldest) so he can test it out. Thanks for your concern - it is deeply appreciated! :D

I actually came to the board tonight in hopes of finding an update. I am so glad to hear that all of the kids are doing well. I think I remembered her mentioning the flu earlier in the year too - have they been through two bouts with it now? Goodness! My continued prayers for Carrie and family! Please let her know we are thinking of her.

That is wonderful news that Carrie's family is doing much better. We went to our Scout meeting this week and one mom said her family had to be in quaritine for 5 days due to their 1 1/2 yr old having whooping cough! Wow, I though that was a thing of the past.

Love,
Pam

Praise the Lord! It sounds like they may be seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Thank the Lord no one else got the flu. That is amazing!

So glad to hear things are getting better for them! We've all been sick in our house too but I think we're all on the tail end of it now thankfully. This time of year can be tough with all the nasty viruses that get spread around!

That's wonderful news. I wish Carrie and her family a speedy recovery. We too had the flu. It was a bit scary having all 5 kids coughing with fevers. Most of us I think have turned the corner but my youngest (18months) is just getting it now so we are praying it isn't too severe. I was at emergency today due to a tightness in my chest, but they said it was muscular and likely related to the H1N1 strain. It's scary to know that sometimes really healthy people get severely sick and die with this! The doctor mentioned a 28 yr. old woman died last week who was otherwise healthy. I've been on the fence with this Swine Flu vaccine but going through it with the kids gives me a new persective. I am thanking the Lord that he has taken our family through this safely!

Ladies,

Thank you so much for all of your prayers and your patience in waiting for us to re-enter our lives! My hubby has done a terrific job of keeping our business going and my sweet sister has done a great job of answering questions I would normally answer on the board. I am so grateful for each of you ladies who have helped one another with questions and encouragement. This board is a tremendous blessing to us and hopefully to each of you as well. :D

We were back to the ER with Beau this past Saturday with what we thought was a reocurrence of his intusseception, but all turned out alright after a repeat of many tests and a not so wonderful barium procedure in his intestine. So, we pray that Beau is on the mend finally and will slowly return to normal. We are so reminded in this glimpse into what it must be like for families with much more serious illnesses than ours and feel so blessed that Beau was able to be helped with surgery. We are reminded to be more compassionate to others as we never know what each family may be going through on a daily basis. :D

Thank you again for your prayers. We are blessed by them more than you know. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Carrie,

So great to see you back though I am sure it is not full force yet. So sorry for all your family has been through. My family is still in prayer for you as I know are all the HODie families! Praying God will not only heal Beau but bless you all somehow through this! Great to see you back. :D

Thank you so much! I continue to remember your family in prayer as well, especially your hubby and yourself with the health issues you have mentioned on the board in the past. We appreciate the prayers more than any of you can know! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
