Edible Playdough & Sunbutter
We used Sunbutter to make my son's edible playdough today (LHFHG Unit 5/Day 5) and it worked well and tasted really good too. Just wanted to throw it out there to any others who may have kids with peanut allergies.

What is Sunbutter?
Re: Edible Playdough & Sunbutter
It is made with sunflower seeds instead of peanuts.
I have a daughter with peanut allergies.

I can totally relate! My son is peanut allergic (even to the touch) and tests show that he is allergic to almonds also.
It's one of the big reasons we homeschool!
Thanks for sharing this. I'm sure I'll need to use the sunbutter or soybutter for birdfeeders and etc.

Re: Edible Playdough & Sunbutter
You're welcome. Sunbutter is also a great swap in recipes calling for peanut butter. The only thing is you have to keep it refrigerated or it turns green because of the plant products in it.

Re: Edible Playdough & Sunbutter
My son is tree nut anaphylactic and we have no nut or peanut products in this house. We do have Sunbutter though! Thank you so much; it had never occured to me to try using it for this type of thing.
Re: Edible Playdough & Sunbutter
We've used Sunbutter for a number of years and I've never refrigerated it. But, with 5 kids, we go through it pretty fast. I've thought about making "Sunbutter cookies" instead of peanut butter cookies, but have never tried it.
I have a son that is anaphylactic to milk, peanuts, tree nuts, eggs and fish (and then has other allergies like soy, green peas and sesame, among others). I am SO thankful for Sunbutter!
