Speaking of Friday Fun an extra fun thing we are doing!

Just wanted to share in case someone else is looking for something fun to do in free time. :D This year we are taking things from our Bible reading and the verses we study in HOD and illustrating them. Today CTC and Preparing has not gotten far enough in verses to have something that we can draw yet so those kids did something from our Bible reading that we do and instead did the Parable of the Sower. My Beyond kids though are drawing Psalm 4:8. I am just letting them go with it however they desire. I have given them one of the simple pages from here http://www.notebookingpages.com/index.p ... aper-pages and let their imaginations go wild. We are getting some pretty interesting things. This will be a regular on Fridays. My CTC and Preparing kids will be drawing about what they memorize in the first two weeks next Friday so they can get to a place where they have a complete thought to illustrate. Plus in all honesty those are a little harder so I want them to be thinking about it during the week and I will give some tips as we study next week. I am loving what they are coming up with on this! :D

It's free, it's fun, and it helps to seal in those verses in their hearts! Maybe someone else will love doing it too. Just thought I would share. :D

That sounds similar to what we do. Last year we were doing the history portion of LHFHG and the LA and math from Beyond. Since the copywork in Beyond is related to the history, we decided to make our weekly scripture be our copywork. To make it even more fun, we used one of the pads from Miller pad and paper that had a drawing area on top and a writing area underneath and they illustrated their scriptures. It's something that they really looked forward to doing so we are continuing it this year with our scriptures in Beyond. It is interesting to see the stories that they try to tell in their drawings to go with the scripture. :lol:

Patty thanks for sharing what you did. I was hoping this would be something that would stick. It sounds like it is working for you. My kids loved it! It was fun to see what their minds came up with from the verse. :D
