Future Guide Plans

Post by Motherjoy » Tue Feb 26, 2008 10:21 am

Hi everyone. I'm new here, so I'm sure this has been answered or discussed somewhere. I saw that there are plans to make guides through 8th grade. I'm looking into using HOD, but I was wondering what historical time periods the future guides would cover (following Preparing).

I know it seems silly, but knowing this info ahead of time will help me decide whether or not HOD will be a good long term fit for our family. I really want to stop jumping around from curiculum to curiculum.

Thanks.

Beth,
mom to four boys (9,3,2,1) and another blessing due in September

Motherjoy,

I am curious about this, too. We've switched curriculums several times, and I want to stick with something. We'll be starting Bigger... and Little Hearts.. mid-summer. We used Beyond...last year for first grade with my daughter. I'm sure Carrie will get back with you soon. I'm looking forward to the answer as well. :)

I believe the plan is for Preparing to be a general overview of history. Then the next 4 guides will be a 4 year cyle of history. I am not sure of the exact time frame, but I think that is what I remember reading. If I find the thread that mentions this I will come back and post a link.

I found the thread, but I am not sure how to link. Here is what Carrie wrote, "There will be 4 guides to follow "Preparing Hearts..." to do the 4 year history cycle. "

Thanks for the info. So far, HOD is looking like it might be a great fit for our family during the "elementary" and "middle" years.

I'm new here so I do not have all the answers but I noticed a post by Carrie about her future plans. It is on page 8 about 6 threads down called "What comes after Bigger?"

Perhaps this is the info you are looking for.

Beth,

Welcome! :D The ladies on the board are doing a great job of pointing you in the right direction. Here's another thread where I addressed this question:

Hi Beth! I just wanted to welcome you to the HOD board! You will find this board to be such an uplifting place to gather. I've used each of the HOD programs so far, and I am sure that your family will love them as much as we do! Glad to have you here!
