Thanks so much Julie! I really do think you are right. I'll start searching for a great Aussie spine that I could incorporate. Thanks! Nicolemy3sons wrote:The ideas the ladies have shared here are excellent. There are many, many homeschooling families living different places all over the world using HOD doing exactly what has been described here. Many missionaries use HOD, also many Aussies, Canadians, etc. - anyway - HOD has truly been shipped just about everywhere over the years. Most of the families I've spoken with do the guides as they are written and add a book or books relevant to their location or heritage. So, if you limit your search to adding in a history book you can read aloud that pertains to Australian history, I think you'd be set. I liked Dorla's idea of once a week making a notebook page based on your learning about your country's history. The way Bigger Hearts is written is inspiring because of the people and their commitment to innovative thinking as well as to the Lord (not just their contribution to America). Important character qualities are woven through it all - which is detrimental for all of us, no matter where we live. I would not get in a tizzy about this- no need to go over the top with what you add. I'd search for one good solid Australian history resource (if you can't find one on Australian history, perhaps look for some good biographies of important Australians in history) and add it in once a week as a read aloud, maybe making a notebook page for it each week as well. Beyond that, I'd just enjoy Bigger!
