Trying to decide what genre some books are...
I'm not planning to start DITHOR until next year, but I've been starting to look through our books that might work. Has anyone used Magic Treehouse books? Would they be fantasy?
I was also considering "How to Eat Fried Worms"
Any other books that you think a 9 yo boy would like & have worked well with the program?

Hi-if you're looking for a good fantasy with boy-appeal, we are currently enjoying The Indian In the Cupboard (even though I have girls )
I'm not sure whether to call Magic Treehouse fantasy, or historical fiction, or both?!
Maybe someone else will be of more help

Hi Janet -
Do you have DITHOR's Suggested Book Ideas List? I think it's $5 or so, and I have used that to choose books for every type of genre and every type of age. It's really helpful!
Also, if you get a chance to check out the book packs, especially the Boy Interest pack for Bigger Hearts for His Glory on the site, that'll give you some great ideas too! Even if you are not using Bigger..., you could still use the Book Pack, which is for ages 7-9 and has one book for each genre. Even if you don't use the whole book pack, it'll give you some great ideas. I've actually gotten all of the books in the Classic Set, the Girl Interest, and the Boy Interest sets over the year, and my ds is enjoying them all one way or another. Here's the link to the boy interest pack:

Hope that helps!
