I get so excited each week...
Do you all do that? Each time we finish a unit, I can't wait to get into the plan for the next Unit and see what books we will use, what experiments we will do. Each wekk is like Christmas. I am a dork, huh? LOL

Re: I get so excited each week...
Are you kidding!!!??? I must live in the land of dorkville! LOL! Each day when we are done I am filling our workboxes right away! And on Thursdays, as soon as we are done I am checking out the next week and getting things ready! We wer'e done yesterday at 2:00, and by 2:30 I had everything ready for next week!I LOVE HOD!!!!!! In fact, I have a couple of dr appts next week and thought...... hmmmm what if we started on Saturday???! LOL! But ds needs a day to just be a kid.... that's another reason I love it so much... We school Mon - Thurs and take friday for extra crafts etc.... DS even admitted to reading a few of the next pages in our history read aloud! Don'tcha luv' it!!!!????

I feel the same way. For me though, it's a surprise every day when I look ahead to see what we're going to do. Last year I used a different curriculum and spent 2-4 hours planning a week. I cannot express the relief I feel not having to do this with HOD. The other night my sweet dh asked if I had tomorrow's school planned. I smiled and said, "Remember...all I have to do is turn the page." I am not suffering the dreaded Sunday night push to plan for the new week. I just look things over, lay everything out and pray a prayer of thanksgiving for the Lord leading me to HOD. I don't think I would have lasted too long homeschooling without it.

I also get excited when we complete a Unit and I'm ready to start looking ahead at the next Unit. I usually spend sometime on Saturday night planning, but I do that for personal reasons, not because I need to. Because I'm doing science a little differently than how it's planned in the book I have to plan that out each week, but it doesn't take much time and my dd loves how much time we spend with science each week. This look ahead each week gives me the opportunity to keep my dh in loop, as he is sitting right next to me while I go through the plans. I love the ease of HOD!!

Ladies,
I am so glad that you are enjoying the ease of use with your HOD guides! We need that ease of use at our house too. An added bonus is that I find that I actually get more accomplished that way too!
Before our HOD guides were written, I rarely did hands-on activities, or projects, and science experiments were sporadic at best. I certainly didn't get to poetry or music or Bible memory work daily, and geography, research, and notebooking were very neglected. I find the guides help me accomplish what I always wanted our school days to be. We pray the design of the programs will continue to bless you too!
Blessings,
Carrie
