What do I NEED for starting Bigger on Monday?

Post by Heather » Sat Aug 08, 2009 8:14 pm

Hi!

We are super excited about getting started on Monday. I am starting LHTH with my brand new four year old, Joshua. He is thrilled at having his own preschool time with mommy. With my two older boys, Sam and Be, we are doing BHFHG. My almost nine year old will be doing the extensions (he needs and wants the challenge!). I have all the curriculum, however still need to finish organizing it before we start on Monday.

My question is what do I need in terms of binders, etc. to have for my older boys before we start on Monday? I've looked through the manual but didn't find a list. I probably missed it. If someone who has done Bigger could help me I would really appreciate it. :D

Hi Heather.

We did Bigger last year and loved it!! I will let you know what we used. For History, 3-ring binder, For Science 3-ring binder divided into sections, bible we used index cards and punched holes to put them on a ring each week after they were completed, Vocabulary we used a composition notebook and labled each two page layout with each letter from A-Z (for vocabulary you can also use index cards and a file box and file them each week when done, this is how we are going to try it this year with Preparing), dictation we just used a spiral notebook, Art I just put their projects in a folder to keep for them to look back on, Grammar you will probably need a spiral notebook also. Don't forget little things like colored pencils, crayons, glue, paint, construction paper and drawing paper too. I hope I haven't left anything out. HTH. :D

We are startiung week 3 of Bigger. I use a 2" binder full of sheet protectors that is divided into sections for history and Science. History Notebooking is first, then Science Notebooking, and finally Science Experiments (and each section is used once a week). We have a Vocabulary notebook with two pages for each letter of the alphabet (used once a week), a dictation notebook (3 days a week), a copywork notebook (used for Poetry copywork daily and Bible Verse copywork once a week). For the extensions, my son has a notebook for his written summaries (twice a week).
