Extra CTC notebook pages for siblings???

Post by Mamochka5 » Thu Jul 30, 2009 9:14 am

Hi!

My 10 y.o. son is doing CTC this year. His 7 y.o. sister is not doing most of it with him, but we've decided to keep her roughly in the same time period as him. She'll do SOTW and activity book (she begged me to do this instead of US History that I had considered in Beyond). She will also do History for Little Pilgrims with my 5 y.o., so fear not! My 5 y.o. will not be left in the dust!! So, she'll do that and maybe listen in to my ds Diana Waring CD (if he doesn't mind.) Is it worthwhile to spend the money for the CTC notebook pages for her, too, if she really isn't "doing" a lot of the program? Or, just do my own simple history notebook w/her SOTW coloring pages, etc.? She will probably join in with her brother in the afternoon (thank you, Carrie, for that suggestion! :D ) on the History project b/c she loves crafts. And, loves to be with her big brother.

Any suggestions??

Thanks! :)
Liz

Liz,

I'm thinking that the writing in the CTC notebook will be a pretty big challenge for a 7 year old, so you may wish to omit the notebook pages for her from CTC until she's able to go through them on her own. However, you'll know best how much your daughter enjoys that type of thing. There is copywork and written narrations that go in the notebook each week, which will most likely be a bit much for your daughter.

Blessings,
Carrie

Thanks, Carrie. I think you're probably right about the amount of writing. I just know she'll be coveting those fancy notebook pages!

I don't know if you saw my other post, but after I posted I decided to order Beyond for my 5 and 7 y.o. My 7 y.o. loves (loves!) SOTW....even at 5 she loved it and enjoyed the activities. My 5 y.o. is a very different girl and after going through SOTW again last night w/my dh, we both realized she would not sit through the readings. At least not in the first half of the year. I think God was nudging me to give her a gentle year. She may not even sit through the readings for Beyond. Who knows. But we have History for Little Pilgrims, too, and I think she'll like that. I'm just hoping I can figure out a schedule to not make me go insane!! We'll add in LHTH a few times a week for the 2 and almost 4 y.o. I keep reading on here that it's doable. I'm holding you all to that! lol. :D

Thank you !! I'm so excited to get our books. :D
