A Math Question

Post by dianeh47 »

Carrie,
You were talking to me about Essential Math Skills. Is that the one with Rick Fisher and is it a full curriculum?
Thanks.

Diane,

It is a full curriculum meant for intermediate steps leading up to Algebra. Supposedly, Rich Fischer is also coming out with an Algebra I program eventually. :D I have owned the guides for both middle school and high school for years and have always thought they looked outstanding for filling in gaps, reteaching, or solidifying concepts before moving on. The program works in so many capacities! However, we'll need to actually try it out on our own son this year before we highly recommend it!

Hello Diane!

We have used Math Essentials in addition to another full math curriculum and I would highly recommend it. We've used it for our one son who is advanced in Math and in another who is not. It's hard to find an ready-to-go Math workbook that covers all the math concepts that works for both struggling and advanced math students. For $20 and 10-20 minutes a day I think all of my children will see Math Essentials in their upper elementary years! However; we find that much of a difference between the Math Essentials Book 1 & 2!
