Do you recommend letting a child go quickly through their math book when they know the material well. My K'er knows most of the Singapore 2A book (at least half of it) and is begging to do more pages. I'm just not sure if I should let him move quickly through it.

My little guy needed consistency, so we did a few trials and found a good place in 2A to start, and I just mark the activity for that page in LHFHG with a separate sticky note
. It was better for ds to know that we always do 1 page a day for math, and sometimes it's quicker than others. We ended up starting around p. 50. HTH

We have been moving through the 2A book faster than scheduled because my dd knows the material as well. I plan to slow down once the material gets a bit more challenging for her. I want to make sure we start at the beginning because I've heard Singapore has a totally different way of thinking of math than the typical program so I want to make sure that we don't miss anything fundamental. Plus, it's a nice boost to her confidence to start out with some easy material.

I think you could move at a faster pace if you want, but only if you can keep up with the hands-on HOD part that is planned. That was key in cementing a "mental picture" of each skill for my dc. I'd also be leery about getting through Singapore too fast, too quick. It gets hard soon enough, and then it can become frustrating for dc if they reach higher levels too quickly. If dc are loving math and doing well, I'd do whatever you can to preserve it and ride that "train" as long as you can!
That could mean speeding up a tad, or it could mean continuing on as you are.
You'll know what will fit your ds the best.

While you can easily move faster if desired through the early part of Singapore, one thing to weigh is whether you will then get to the more difficult concepts before your little sweetie is ready to handle the material requiring maturity in higher-level thinking.
We found the jump at the beginning of 2A to be substancial, and while the K math and the 1A/1B seem to be quick and easy, you'll want to pace yourself to not get to the higher books too soon.
With our third little guy, we are just enjoying the journey at the regular speed through K and 1, knowing it will get more challenging soon enough!
When following the regular pacing with my second son, we found he was mature enough and prepared well to head into the next levels without trouble.
