I have a couple of questions regarding spelling. We are using the lists from Beyond. My ds still confuses b and d. I know we are still in the realm of its ok but when should I be concerned. He is 6 and technically would currently be in k in the public school. Also, I have been giving him like a pre-test and usually he gets all of the words correct, if you discount the reversals. If I point out them he quickly corrects his mistakes. The next day I give him the words he missed and he is getting them right. Yeah us! Basically we have been doing both lists in 1 week is this ok or should I stick with 1 and when he gets all of the words right we are done with spelling for the week.
Hope that makes sense

Spelling
Back in the day, we started counting off for reversals of b or d after Christmas (2nd semester) of first grade on spelling tests. (this is also when we started counting number reversals as incorrect answers) There are some kids who don't get this b and d thing mastered until into 4th grade, so don't be to alarmed.
If I'm understanding the manual correctly, the first list is for 1st graders and the second list for 2nd graders. I see no problem with doing them all, unless you hit a wall with it.
I know I probably don't need to say this, but remember not to push.

If I remember correctly, b and d reversals are the most common, and many kids do this. It's usually a coordination problem that clears up with time. I read somewhere to be more concerned with confusing 3 with E, or writing/reading words completely in reverse or jumbled, such as saw for was, or "swon" for snow (as my oldest does!)

spelling lists
We are using Beyond and we are also using both lists. If my 7yo knows how to spell all the words on both lists, then a day or two later, we move on to the next weeks' list. If he has a few words he didn't know, then we review them each day till he gets them right before moving on.
