HOD Preparing and DITHOR 4/5

Post by butterfly113 » Mon Jul 06, 2009 4:51 pm

We will be using these next year, and I am planning on following DITHOR as recommended in the HOD guide... 3x per week. With that being said, is it safe for me to presume that it will take two years to get through all 9 genres of DITHOR?
If so, this is what it will look like:

4th grade: HOD Preparing with DITHOR 4/5 (half)

5th grade: HOD CTC with DITHOR 4/5 (half)

then later in 6th, moving to the next level of Dithor....

With this, are most of you scheduling about a chapter per session???

Thanks!

Hoping someone will see and reply....

How is DITHOR working with HOD?, are you taking two years to cover? How much time is spent daily with DITHOR???

Thanks!

This is exactly right! :D I just divide the total number of pages of each book by the number of days we are reading it, and schedule that many pages each day on his chart for ds to read. We did level 4/5 last year, and it took us about 30 minutes each session to do it. HTH! :D

Thank you for answering! I have just scheduled out the first 5 genres for next year, and have the books for the other 4 as well for the following year! Now I'm off to enter it all into my assignments program! Yippee!!!!
Plus, ds is excited because we will finish the year with mystery, and will be reading Treasure of Pelican Cove! We chose that, as we read Sign of the Beaver this year already! So then, we can read the sequel Mystery of Pelican Cove into the summer! Woohoo! Way to get school worked into summer and him not even realize it!

Sounds like a super plan! You go, girl! :D It feels so good to get organized. My ds loved Treasure of Pelican Cove and its sequel too. I bet your ds will too. :)
