Earlybird Kindergarten Mathematics discontinued???

Post by kamariden » Sat Jul 04, 2009 2:29 am

I was just trying to do a comparison of the Singapore Early Kindergarten Mathematics books verses the Primary Mathematics books used with LHFHG, but when I tried checking the Singapore website I couldn't find "Early Kindergarten Mathematics 2a & 2b". Instead I found, "Earlybird Kindergarten Mathematics Std. Edition A & B". I do see a notice that these have replaced the ones referenced by LHFHG.

How does this new edition change the way the math books line up with the guides? or does it???

For example, when I look at day one of the same unit given on the website, it references a specific page in the math text and even says "only do column 1"...seems like a new book would mean different pages and different layouts making those helpful details in the guide obsolete. Is this a correct assumption?

As I said, I'm just trying to compare the different the levels to more solidify my choice (and I'm leaning toward the Primary books) but in case I decide to go with the younger books, I was wondering how that would work. ....I hope all that makes sense.
Thanks!

HOD still has enough copies of the EB 2A and 2B books to go with the LHFHG guides they have printed. They're thinking they may run out early next fall (2010)...unless Singapore keeps sending them more. This far they've been able to keep getting them. Here's the post where Carrie tells that.

So, if you go with the Earlybird books, you'll have the student book to match the hands-on plans in the guides.

HOD still carries enough copies of these to sell, so no worries there. :D If they were to run out of stock, they will have a schedule for the new math workbooks to download from their website, as well as the new math books to buy, as they do with all OOP titles for their current guides. OOP titles are just a part of the passage of time, but HOD handles that promptly and completely. HTH!

Thanks! That is very helpful and reassuring. I can't say I'm surprised, as everything else seems to be handled so well by HOD. Just wasn't sure what the deal was with this particular issue. Now I know.
Thanks again!
