I will be doing bigger this coming year with my two daughters (the older using the extension pack.) My 4 year old is in little hearts to heaven. Does anyone have any recommendations that have worked for them with scheduling?
Thanks Abby

Re: Schedule
Here is an older topic that covers lots of schedules. I just pulled this last night as I was trying to come up with our schedule for next week. Jope it helps you.

Re: Schedule
Hi!
I'm doing some of BHFHG with my 2 girls (1 does all BHFHG), LHFHG with my son, and LHTH with my little guy. This is a post that has our schedule in it viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4058. The one thing that I had to change after starting was to stagger the subjects that they weren't on the same level. Instead of trying to cover 2 maths or 2 english or 2 reading levels at the same time block, I staggered them where I am working one on one for each of those subjects. During math or english or reading, the other kids may have video time or computer time or just play time. This really helped me with my oldest and starting harder level math and needing to really focus on our reading comprehension and narrating skills.
I also moved science to the end of the day. This really helped on the days that we had experiments and hands on learning. She really loves the experiments and doing it last gives her more time to spend on drawing and notebooking. She gets really into it and I felt I was rushing her to the next subject before I made it last where she could take all the time she wanted and explore it more. She often gets on the internet and looks up the animals we are studying in the the one small square books.
If there is a subject they really like and really get into and want to go on bunny trails a lot or explore further by themselves, then that is the subject I would put last so that there really isn't a time limit on it.
If you can, start 2 weeks earlier than when you will consider it to be officially starting school. This will give you time to work out what schedule works for you and your kids as well as get any kinks out of a schedule in progress. LHTH is super easy to do and doesn't take long. I have found that by taking that 30 minutes first thing in the morning and spending it with my little one that it gives him enough Mommy and me time to quietly watch a video or play trains until one of his bigger siblings gets a break and plays with him.
Anyway this is what we do and it is working pretty well for us so far. Hope this helps.

We did Bigger Hearts and LHFHG a few years ago, and the 2 worked so well together! Bigger Hearts and LHTH will be a fun combination for you to teach as well. I've been meaning to post my past schedule on that link for a long time (I shared it awhile back as a separate post), but I just added it to the end of that link now. Just remember when you look at people's schedules that many different schedules work well for many different people! Just jot down the things you like from each person's post, and put together a schedule you think you'd enjoy. It will not be hard to teach Bigger Hearts and LHTH - and with a schedule you'll be one step ahead already.
In Christ,
Julie
