DITHOR 6/7/8 and Optional Book Packages

Not yet. But the sample book list that you can buy has reccommendations for that level.

are there plans for there to be an optional book package for level 6/7/8 with DITHOR?

Also, should each level be done in one year?

I'll have to defer to Carrie or Julie on that. I have no clue. I hope there is one in at least a couple of years.

Aren't the boy and girl read aloud packs in Ancients at the 6/7/8 level of DITHOR? I think I checked them against the DITHOR book list and that was the case. Anyway, it may be an option.

Hi there,

I was so gald to see your post, because I'm just working on our DITHOR 6/7/8 plan. It is my understanding that you could use one of the sets with Creation to Christ for this or you could go to the Book Shop and select your own package. As you click on each genre in the Book Shop the books are listed and indicate their reading level. Using this feature you can custom design your book package according to your preferred reading level.

For my 6th grader in preparing. I will be using DITHOR 6/7/8 with the level 4/5 boy interest book pack. so the reading will be on a nice independent level but the activities will be more challenging. If I feel like the reading is too easy, which judging by the titles there will be plenty of "meat" in them, I can always use the book list and level up. But I like the independent reading to be just that... independent and these titles are great without too much simplicity! jmo..

I used the girl pack from Creation to Christ. They can either be used as read alouds for Creation to Christ or DITHOR 6/7/8.

The ladies have done a super job of answering this post. As a recap - there are no 6/7/8 book packs right now. For that level, you can either use the Sample Book List to put together your own books, or any of the Boy Interest/Girl Interest Book Sets from Bigger Hearts or Creation to Christ. You may want to use either of the DITHOR 4/5 book packs for 6/7/8 otherwise, if you have not used them yet. They go up to reading level fifth grade, seventh month, and they are excellent books as well. If you do DITHOR 3 times a week (as it is scheduled in PHFHG and CTC), then you will only get through about half of the DITHOR set anyway, in which case, you could use the other half the next year. Carrie would like to put together 6/7/8 DITHOR book packs at some point, but she has not set a date to do that as of yet since her main writing focus is the annual guide each year. HTH! Enjoy all of these great books with DITHOR!
