Preparing Notebooking supplies?
This was brought up before and I tried to find the thread but did not have any luck. What do I need for notebooking supplies for Preparing? How many separate notebooks do I need? I know I need a common place book and notecards (vocab. words). I am just trying to figure out exactly what I need. Thanks!
Re: Preparing Notebooking supplies?
I have the same question. I was also wondering why we need plastic page protectors and what exactly is a composition book and a sketchbook? What works best? I would love to hear from previous Preparing users their list of "extras" they needed to buy and what was most helpful and why. I would love to have a shopping list, I guess.
We will begin Preparing in early Sept. Thanks sooo much!

ps. if you have also used LHFHG, can you give me a shopping list for that too?

Re: Preparing Notebooking supplies?
Oooo, I love to be at the gathering stage - it means an HOD start is just around the corner! When we did PHFHG, I just read through the introduction and made my shopping list. There are different choices for supplies noted in the introduction. We did the staircase timeline, so I halved some small index cards for that. I bought a 3 ring binder with tabs and clear sleeves. My ds put his notebooking in a section, his experiment lab reports in another, his poetry in another, and I snapped pictures of his history projects (his favorite projects are still on display in his room). We bought a recipe box and index cards with ABC tabs for his vocabulary as well as a good, thick Webster's dictionary. We also bought composition books with lines, and picked out a neat all-boy looking Common Place book (we got this at Master's Books). Lots of typing paper, some colored construction paper, scissors, a ruler, some index cards, some washable paint, markers, glitter, glue - your basic art stuff. That was it! The rest of it we had on hand in our kitchen or bathroom. Here is a link to the PHFHG photobook, so you can see what you'll get to be doing and what supplies you may enjoy choosing:
