Getting organized.........legal question

Post by christyg » Mon Jun 22, 2009 2:15 pm

Hi ladies! I am starting to get organized for our first year homeschooling (daughter going to be doing LHFHG for kindergarten in August). I have a question..................I live in Texas and was wondering whether I need to join HSLDA or the Texas Home School Coalition or both? I was just a little confused about what I needed to do .

Thanks so much!
Christy :)

Hi Christy!
I also live in Texas and you do not need to join either one! You can homeschool without it. BUT if you want to support either one and be aware of the laws, be informed, etc. etc., then you could do research on each and join which ever you prefer.
Texas is one of those "blessed" places to homeschool in that you do not have any stringent state requirements. Now... your neighborhood might be another story!
Check out this link, it might help you

By the way...I hope you enjoy LHFHG - we LOVED using it for Kindergarten!

I am a lifetime member of HSLDA even though I live in a safe state. In the words of one of my son's favorite childhood stories (Walter the Wolf): Things change so fast in the forest.
