4 year cycle

Post by gotpeace91 » Tue Jun 23, 2009 6:17 pm

I have noticed this phrase in a few posts recently and am embarrassed to say I don't know what the 4 year cycle is. Can someone please explain it to me? How many cycles are there and what guides are included in what cycle?
Thanks,
Leah :)

Oh, I figured it out. grades 1-4, 5-8, 9-12. But how many guides are there going to be and what grades do they generally go along with?
Thanks,
Leah

When people talk about a 4 year cycle, they are usually referring to covering world history in 4 years (for example, the first year of the cycle is ancient history). Some choose to start in 1st grade (not using HOD guides), and their children will go through 3 complete cycles of world history before they graduate.

HOD starts with American History first, before starting the "4 year cycle" in the newest guide.

gotpeace,

Here's a link to our scope and sequence. You'll notice that HOD does the "4-year cycle" at the end of the HOD guide plan, waiting until kiddos are firmly grounded in the Bible and have had a good tour through American history before hitting the heavier content that comes with those ancient time periods.
