Box Day - hold the children back

Post by allforjesus » Wed Jun 17, 2009 12:10 pm

So, we had box day after the convention. I successfully brought home the manuals and books for Preparing from the convention. Got them all hidden. Then, the box came. It was so alluring, so tempting, so exciting. The extra books were in it from HOD. The kids read the "from" and wanted to see right away. I reluctantly agreed and they dove in. I warned them that they are school books and put away until we start the new manuals. They begged to start in July. They looked and got so excited. I got all the books back but one (Capyboppy). Whew! Just one lost to the children and he read it all straight through. The rest are successfully hidden. A near miss, but we made it.

And, as a side note, we are still finishing Bigger. Oldest told me that he doesn't want history and science to end for the summer. But, he'd be fine if language arts, writing, and math did. :( That's a pretty awesome testimony about how much my children love the Heart of Dakota books!!!

Oh how fun! That sounds like me and my kids a few days ago when we got some of our books. With me running away holding the books up high and them chasing me and clamoring for their new books! :-) My ds has the same sentiments as your oldest about math and LA. :|

Woo-hoo! I love getting new books! :D Sue Ann and Leah, I can totally picture both of you running away protecting your school books. I'm going to be joining both of you in Preparing this coming year. We're going to have a great year in school, I'm sure! :D

I can hardly wait to order our books... July is almost here! :D :D

I'm glad you got all of your HOD goodies, Sue Ann! :D It's so fun picturing you trying to hold down the fort and hiding the books frantically - especially now since I met you and I can put your lovely face with that scenario! :D That's too bad Capyboppy was snuck away, but I am very proud of you that you retrieved it and were able to keep the rest under raps. Too fun - that's a pretty great testimony to HOD's knack for picking awesome books! :D I hope you are having a nice summer. I so enjoyed visiting with you, your dh, and the other HODies we saw at the conference! :D

Sue Ann,

I loved the picture you painted with your words of your kiddos with their box of HOD goodies! I could see it so clearly in my mind! My boys are the same way. :D

I'm so glad that your kiddos are enjoying Bigger Hearts. My son didn't want it to end either. He loved it all. :D

I'm excited for the year you have ahead of you with Preparing Hearts for His Glory. We enjoyed it so much this past year. My son grew up in so many ways! I pray it will bless your family as well. :D

It was wonderful to meet you at convention. 8)

Blessings,
Carrie
