New in WV

Post by ast » Mon Jun 15, 2009 2:54 pm

Hi,

My name is Amanda and I am new to HOD. I placed my order on Friday and it looks like it will be arriving tomorrow! I can hardly wait to look through everything! This will be my oldest daughter's official Kindergarten year (I say official because she has an August birthday and we have chosen for various reasons to start K this fall instead of last. We did homeschool last year "unofficially" and enjoyed getting our feet wet and finding out her strengths/weaknesses as well as mine!) I ordered LHFHG with K options (except for science - we used the K book last year.) For phonics, we will use The Reading Lesson (already on the bookshelf.) I am very excited to start this fall. I am activity/art challenged and so I love that it is all scheduled out for me!

I also have a just turned 2 year old daughter (who thinks she is 5!) who will probably be joining big sis for all of the hands-on fun. We are planning to begin LHTH for her next fall when she is 3 1/2.

I have really enjoyed reading all of the current posts and the archives on the board and wanted to introduce myself and say thank you for all of the great posts which were so helpful to me while I was researching HOD. I am also curious - are there any other HOD users in West Virginia?

Thanks,
Amanda

Hi Amanda!

Welcome! We just finished this year with LHFHG, and you are in for a real treat!! We were sad to finish, but we are excited for Beyond next! The manual is so great, and wonderful to have everything all laid out for us! No prep needed! :D
Little Hands To Heaven is wonderful too, in fact we are going to be doing over again with our youngest, this fall, using the older books. I think he will get even more out of it this time around
Have fun looking at all your goodies!!!

LeAnna :D

i also have a 4 yrold (dd) who is doing LHTH and a daughter who is 16 months going on 5yrs! she is into everything the older two are. she honestly thinks she is a big kid. she picks up on Everything thing they do.

Enjoy your year with LHFHG. We are!

Hi Amanda, and here's a hearty welcome to the HOD Board! :D I enjoy this board so much as well - the posts reflect the big hearts of the ladies here, and it's obvious the Lord is part of their days schooling. You are going to enjoy LHFHG so much - we had such great memories with it with both of our dc. They really loved the ebb and flow of reading and hands-on. I'm also not so great at getting activities done, especially art activities or science experiments. HOD has been such a guilt remover for me in those areas. I'm so proud to say we do art and science experiments every week with HOD! My dc love it, and I feel so good about getting it done each week in an easy stress-free way. You'll have to share your "box day" with us when LHFHG arrives. We like to share in the excitement! :D

Julie

LHFHG is great fun! I think you'll enjoy it. We sure are. Even my almost 3 year old begs for storytime and I must say they were quite disappointed that we aren't reading them over the summer. :-)

Amanda,

I just wanted to pop-in and welcome to the board! We're glad to have you here. :D How exciting that you'll be getting your box of goodies from HOD soon. Enjoy going through your items and peeking at all of the great learning and fun your little sweeties will have ahead of them this school year. :D

We just finished Little Hearts with our third little guy a little over a month ago, and we enjoyed our year so much. We were sad to see it end! :D We pray Little Hearts will be a blessing to your family and that you'll enjoy LHTH too!

Blessings,
Carrie
