Well, I finally decided which program we are going to use next year with my kiddos. After much thought and mulling over the pros and cons of keeping my two olders together or not in a program, I finally decided that it made sense since this would be our first year using HOD, to combine them in Preparing using the extensions for my older (6th grader). I had given thought to separating them, putting the younger one in Bigger and the older one in CTC, but thought since my older dd is so used to a more workbook kind of program that Preparing would be a good start to break her into a different style of learning. I am sad in a way not to have the opportunity of doing Bigger with my ds, but I have 2 younger ones who will be able to use Bigger in the future. I am VERY excited about using Preparing with my kids. I love how the Bible is so integrated into everything. Some Christians view that as a negative, but my dh and I think that aspect is AWESOME. I will also be embarking on using LHFHG with my younger dd (5). I am sure that my dd 2 will want to listen in on the Bible stories and participate in singing time with the Hide em in Your Heart CD. Thanks for all of your suggestions and help in the past.

We did PHFHG and LHFHG last year - oh, are you in for some fun! It sounds like you've come to a decision and are ready to take off. I think you'll love how easily these 2 programs can be taught at the same time. We found it to be a great fit for our family in so many ways. I think you are going to enjoy this so much. It helped us to start PHFHG half-speed for a week or 2 (we did half-speed for our younger in LHFHG for longer than that because that was a good pacing for him). About a month in, we hit our stride and couldn't wait to do school together each day. Thanks for sharing what you'll be doing - sounds like a great plan!

I'm excited to hear about your decision. I think your plan sounds very well thought out. We did the LHFHG and Preparing Hearts combination last year too and had a wonderful year. We pray you'll enjoy your year as much as we did!
