I am trying to decide how to schedule our school time. We are currently only scheduling the right side of LHFGHDo you schedule a block of to do LHFHG or do you do some and take a break then do some more? I just wonder if you do it all at once do your dc get tired and loose concentration.
For example my schedule the way I have it set up goes like this:
8:45 LHTH
9:15 Outside
10:00 Snack
10:15 Phonics
10:30 Math
10:45 Break
11:15 Handwriting/Fine Motor
11:30 Science/Art
At bedtime we do storytime/read alouds.
Scheduling
Re: Scheduling
I'm a Type A personality but have never been a Type A scheduler. Here's how I would think...
School starts after breakfast/chores and no later than 8am (we are early birds).
We start with Bible.
Then we keep doing LHFHG until I notice Mr. Wiggly can no longer sit still.
Then we go outside and take a break, go for a walk, garden, etc.
Come back in and do some more.
Then of course, we are probably starving.
Some days that will mean he sat through one whole side of LHFHG in one sitting. Other days it meant we only did one or two boxes before heading out to burn off energy.
Okay, I have two kiddos and I still schedule like that. I have a good idea of where we want to go but I'm not counting the minutes. Guess you could say we are big on routines but not so much on schedule.

Re: Scheduling
we are also more routine followers than we are "schedulers". i spent many days last year trying to following a set in stone schedule to finally realize it doesn't work for us...when the kids are older i can see it being helpful. anywho, here is our routine plan for this fall:
get up, chores, eat breakfast
start school at 9:00 (this may be pushing it for my late rising dd
)
Bible time
Phonics
Math
LHTH with 3 yo while 5 yo does seatwork
Fingerplays and Songs
Play outside
Lunch
Video or Book on Tape (while i put baby down for nap)
Science/Art Boxes
History Read Alouds if not done at Bible time
Storytime
Baby up - storytime with her
Dinner prep, play outside, etc. etc.
During the phonics/math section, my middle dd will either be working on her own worksheets or watching an educational video. the video could be the most helpful in providing one on one time with my oldest for the best phonics/math instruction, but for some reason i'm not sure i can overcome the guilt of this. on paper, it looks good, but when i actually have to say, "Okay watch t.v. while i do school with your sister", i may chicken out and try to make it work some other way.
