You could definitely use the library. It's a nice way to keep costs down, but you will have to make sure that you can get the books when you need them. I would think you could use another children's Bible as long as it is on a similar reading level. The Bible used in Beyond is meant to be read by the child. It is not used as part of the Bible study.

Well, you're just a doll, and I'm so happy I could help you out a bit. I'm fairly new in this hsing journey too. Next year will be my third year, so I know how you feel and shared some of your same concerns. Like anything that is new, it takes a while to get comfortable. Give it some time, and you'll find your groove. I'll be praying for you and your little sweetheart!
God Bless, and (((BIG HUGS)))

I think you are doing Beyond aren't you? You will need the Economy Package and the Basic Package. You can easily use your library for the deluxe read-alouds (though we did that one year and have since switched to just buying the books and having them on hand - late fees  ). Anyway, the library works if you have a decent one and if you can easily get there often. :D

As far as the Emerging Reader's Set, I'd encourage you to get those, including the Bible. The comprehension questions in the Appendix are matched to the specific stories in the Bible each day, and the questions are based on Bloom's Taxonomy - we found them key to helping our dc to grow in reading comprehension. Also, some of the books in the Emerging Reader's Set are finished in a week - making your library trips come up quite often! The deluxe books, on the other hand, are read for about a month at a time, and there are 3 choices for them, so you should be able to cover that with the library. If there is any chance you are not going to get to the library for those titles consistently though, I'd get those too. Not having the proper books just messes up the beauty of HOD's plans and ease of use. 8)
