Blogging HOD questions

Post by kayben » Tue May 26, 2009 10:30 am

Hi ladies. I haven't been around much lately but I am still here. I am so proud of everyone and their progress! I LOVE reading the weekly check ins and looking at all the pics on there and in your blogs. As I will be doing HOD with four children next year, I would love to do a basic blog in order to have a way to chronicle our learning for all of our extended family to see. I just dont know how to do it? I even signed up on homeschoolerblog.com (or something like that  ) But when I went to work on it, i didn't get it there was this page that I didn't know what to do with? Is there a really simple tutorial somewhere? Like how to just put in pics with a little info. I won't have time to do anything amazing or fancy, but my childdren love pictures. and I would love to try it.

Thank you ladies.

Rebecca

PS I have finally gotten all of my stuff for next year. Complete LHTH (to use a little bit here and there) Complete LHFHG with the Beyond guide for the 1st grade hands on Math. Complete PHFHG with deluxe for my 3rd grader and extensions for my 6th grader. and the DrawnITHOR guide and books for the olders. IT is pretty funny because now the only guides I haven't bought in the last three months are Bigger and The new one :)

My husband just recently mentioned a site that allows you to do a blog very simply (easier than a regular blog). He mentioned this to me because I wasn't blogging on mine very often and then when I'd try to go back to do it, I'd have forgotten how to do it. I don't have the name at this moment, but will write back when I do get it.

I personally think blogspot is much easier to nagivate then homeschoolblogger. You don't have to have really much of any html code knowledge.

If you decide to go the blogspot route, I can walk you through it.

Just PM me if you want help.

I don't know anything about homeschoolerblog, but I have 2 blogspot blogs and I use Windows Live Writer and it is so much easier. It is a separate program that you import your blog to and it is so much easier to me. WYSWYG is really true. You may be able to import your homeschoolerblog to Windows Live Writer and then it is just like using Microsoft Word. You can add code and it is super simple. It is a lot like Microsoft's old FrontPage.
I like it b/c it is a format I know not a format I have to learn. If you can use Microsoft Office then this is easy to use and publish to your blog. It is a free download. http://download.live.com/?wa=wsignin1.0

thanks ladies. Maybe I will try blogspot. I just tried homeschoolblogger.com and did a little test. I got this...http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/7babycakes accomplished. But it was a test and I tried everything to do a picture. I thought it would be like loading a pic into a forum from photobucket. But it just came up with a box with an x in it. the pictures are my biggest reason for the blog. to sort of have a virtual scrapbook to share and for keepsake. Thanks. I will try once more to get a pic on here and then switch over to blogspot. I like easy!

Update. I got a pic on there. I think I will stick with this for a little while. But those of you who do tons of pictures in your blogs. Do you have to do everything through photobucket or is there a way to upload things in to your blogs from your pictures saved on the computer? I am just happy to have a very basic thing started. I would love to eventually have a nice looking place for others on HOD to see my week etc. once we start. I will maybe spend an hour a week through the summer working on things so that when we start in the fall I will have an idea of how to do it easier and maybe make it a weekly priority. Like a weekly newsletter from the classrooms. Like you all do in the weekly check in. Thanks again. I think I will still check out the blogspot and pm you about that.. with all my :?:
