That's an accomplishment for us!

I was amazed! I'm sure you will have many good days ahead. I had a good laugh about your son's comment on doing what was in the guide. That is so precious! My son can say the funniest things at times. It's kind of like, he thinks we're just playing around and not getting down to business, ha! One thing I do want to add is something a little "bittersweet". Ds does not understand when we do something creative that it really is "school". He keeps saying, let's move on and do the "work" so we can get school over with!
I guess it's just going to take some time for him to adjust to more hands on and a little less textbooks.

That's too cute that your ds thinks he needs to be "all business" in school. You'll have to tell him that HOD makes learning fun as much as possible, AND it also doesn't take long to do either. That will really throw him for a loop! 
Seriously, though, he'll grow into the creative side of it, and then he'll be wishing for more of it the more rigorous school gets.
