Handwriting Question

Post by Mommamo » Thu May 07, 2009 10:30 am

I started my duaghter with just regular block printing, and we used A Reason for Handwriting K. We're now just using the copywork in Beyond but I've decided that I really want her to write in a more D'Nealian or italic handwriting. Am I too late? Should I just stick with what we're already doing?
Momma to my 4 sweeties:
DD 14 - MTMM and DITHOR (completed LHFHG, Beyond, Bigger, Preparing, CTC, took a couple years off, and now she's back!)
DS 11 and DD 9 - Preparing(completed 2 rounds of LHTH, LHFHG, Beyond, and Bigger)
DD 6 - LHFHG

If your little honey is doing well with the style of handwriting that you began with, then I wouldn't shift gears on her now. However, when you head into cursive, you could easily go a different route with her cursive from what you did with her manuscript. :D

Also, little girls often love to learn an alternate style of handwriting that is more calligraphy like or curly in its style once they hit upper elementary or even middle school, so if she's interested you could always introduce a new type of printing then. Just a thought. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Great idea, Carrie. I'll just leave well enough alone. I can always do the italic with my other two, and she may decide she wants to do italic with them, you never know.
