After going back and forth and thinking i knew what I was going to do for my 4 yr old and 5 ½ yr old to be able to combine the Learning thru history, I have changed my mind again.
I took a second look at the LHFHG, and decided that by the time my dd is 4 ½ in fall 2009, I will be able to to start Learning History side with her. It isn’t any harder than the Explorer Bible Study that I was thinking of doing with her instead of that. I like the way LHFHG is written better than Explorer’s and being able to use our own Beginners Bible.
I will just use the LHFHG learning basics side with my ds for now because he has already done up to Unit 13 with both sides. We need to do half-pace anyway. instead of alternating the Learning history with Learning basics, we will do just Learning basics so that his sister can catch up with the learning history side. When she is caught up to him, then he can do just the learning history side with him or he may even be able to do both sides at that time because it probably won’t be until January 2010 when that happens. He will be a little over 6yrs then.
Even if nobody really reads this, it has been helpful for me to look at what others are doing and very helpful for me to just write my thoughts to all the possibilities with my children. I have finally decided and it makes so much sense to me. Who knows maybe this will help someone else.
I originally wrote in I am new to the board about this topic.
Thanks all

Half the battle is figuring out your plan. You sound like you have it well thought out.

I'm so glad to hear what you're doing. I just started LHFHG with my 5 1/2 yo today with my nearly 4yo tagging along. LHFHG is my third program to add, so I'm not going to try for a 4th with LHTH. I think my nearly 4yo ds will enjoy the stories - he was already hanging out for other read alouds. If he's in and out for some of it, I'm okay with that too.
Welcome!

jenntracey,
It sounds like you have a good plan in place for combining your kiddos for the long haul. While it can take a little bit of tweaking in the early years to combine, it really will be wonderful for you to have them together as you go since that is your heart's desire.
I'll pray for you to have peace with your decision and to enjoy your HOD journey!
Blessings,
Carrie
