ready to order LHFHG - what Bible & Devotional?
ready to order LHFHG - what Bible & Devotional?
For those of you who use or have used this & looked at both options..... Does it really matter? Was there one your child preferred? This fall I will have a 4 year old and one that is 1 1/2. It says 2-4. Really? Did you find your 2 year old grasping it? What about the devotional? Thanks for your input!

Juliekay,
did you mean LHTH? If so, my girlfriend has used LHTH for her 2 year-old and she loved it, though I'm not sure which bible or devotional she used.

Re: ready to order LHFHG - what Bible & Devotional?
I have both of the recommendations so my younger two could each have their own bibles. I do have the ABC devontionals and they sit and listen to it when I pull it out. Some days I think they get it and others days I am not so sure. My younger two will act out the bible stories on their own but I think that is due to the fact that in the guide it says too and they remember. As for the devotional I hope they are getting it. I didn't use it much in the pass and now I use it more regulary. My 4 y.o. will try to answer my questions, my 9 y.o. does answer the questions after I ask my son questions. He normally says, "Don't know." but I know that he is listening. He is stubborn and will 'school' when he wants to or answer stuff when he wants to. I got Little Hands when my 4y.o. was 2 and she enjoyed tagging along with her brother. This will be her last year doing Little Hearts To Heaven (2009-2010) and she will be doing all of the activies not just when she wants to like now.
As for grasping it at 2. I don't remember much back then
Just that she did and still enjoys being read too and scribbling which is now between drawing and scribbling. The 4 yo will get something out of it, my son has. He just turned five.

Re: ready to order LHFHG - what Bible & Devotional?
JulieKay,
In regards to asking about LHTH and a two year old, I'm going to say it depends on the child.
I didn't do LFTH with my daughter when she was two, but I had an old copy (1960's version - very realistic pictures) of the Bible in Picture for Little Eyes, and she loved that book. I remember reading the whole thing to her in two days. Whenever I would stop, she would ask for more. I doubt any two year old could "grasp it"
, but she was willing to sit and listen. None of my other children had a love for books like she did at that age.
Were you able to go on Amazon or another source to get an "inside look" to see if you had a preference? I bought one of the versions "used" from amazon, but decided to go with my older 1960's version because I like it more.
I plan on doing LFTH this fall with my 4 year old, so I can't answer your question about the devotional.
Best of luck,
Joy

Re: ready to order LHFHG - what Bible & Devotional?
Juliekaye,
I can't answer but to say I ordered the one for the youngers. It hasn't come yet, but I started today and had a fabulous day with my 2.5 and 4 year olds. I use the First Step Bible by Gold n Honey publishers which says for 1-3 year olds and just read about Adam and creation! It was perfect and they both loved it. My 15 month old just crawled around. So, I don't really plan to do anything with him until next year when he will be 2.5 when school starts. I think I already have at least 10 children's Bible's around including the Beginner's Bible. The First Step Bible is really a true beginning, very short phrases type Bible.
So. I don't think that helped at all LOL except to say that any beginner's bible will work and just choose according to age? If you are going to use it again next year, like I am, maybe buy the Younger Bible this year and the Older next.

Thanks Rebecca! Actually I think your comments DID help. I already have one of the Bible's selected. Now I just need to order LHTH the singing bible and a devotional! My littlest may look at some pictures, but that' may last 30 seconds - LOL! I need to aim my purchase toward my 4 year old!kayben wrote:So. Now, on to selections for my older ones! I can't wait to hear your report on how it all works out with all your kiddos doing HOD in one day!

Re: ready to order LHFHG - what Bible & Devotional?
I'm doing LHTH with my 4 yo this year, and my 2 yo is joining us. He (the 2 yo) really joins in whole-heartedly on everything that doesn't involove writing!
The fine motor skills aren't quite there yet. He's working on cutting and gluing and painting though. The Bible stories we're reading from The New Bible in Pictures are the perfect length for little ones. He has no problem listening, and loves to act out the stories when we're done.
You're in for a fun year with your little ones!
