A little confused about grade levels...

Post by Tiffany » Fri Apr 17, 2009 12:11 pm

I received my catalog and I'm a little confused...I know that Carrie is planning three guides after Creation to Christ and that is supposed to take your child through 8th grade....but if I start with Little Hearts for His Glory for Kindergarten does this mean it will only take me through the 7th grade?

If I use....

Little Hands to Heaven- Preschool
Little Hearts for His Glory-Kindergarten
Beyond Little Hearts for His Glory-1st
Bigger Hearts for His Glory-2nd
Preparing-3rd
Creation to Christ- 4th
.....-5th
.....-6th
.....-7th

Is using Little Hands to Heaven for Kindergarten the only way to make it work through 8th grade or am I understanding it wrong? OR am I getting to caught up in grade levels? hehe

There are many options. I believe Carrie purposefully left a year of wiggle room so if you need to slow down or break for any reason you have that year to get back on track. Some ladies do several of the guides esp. LHFHG and Beyond at half speed for awhile before hitting full steam ahead which then carries over more than a year. Some one here intend on filling in that missing year with some geography like MFW or WP or they plan on starting something else entirely to prepare their kids for high school. There are really many options out there. If you use LHTH for K then it would take you through 8th grade but you don't have to do it that way. Hope this helps.

We did Beyond this year for K with my oldest, but we started out in the fall so we met the age requirement. We are planning to do Preparing in 2 years since that seems to be a big jump in skills and try to catch up that way. If the guides only take us to 7th we will perhaps do another guide at half speed to get on track and add some other stuff to fill in. What that will be the Lord will reveal to us at that time :D
