Question about reading levels for DITHOR
Question about reading levels for DITHOR
I have been looking through the sample book ideas list and I have question. My ds will be in 5th grade next year. He reads just slightly below grade level. It seems like the books in the 4/5 list are pretty advanced and most are too hard for him. Some of the books in the 2/3 list are too easy but some seem like they would be a good fit. I bought the level 4/5 student book for him because he has done quite a bit of analyzing characters, making predictions, doing character webs etc. and I feel he can handle that level. I wonder though is it ok to use the level 2/3 reading books with the 4/5 student book or will that not work?

Re: Question about reading levels for DITHOR
Definitely - that will work just fine! DITHOR accounts for reading and writing differences easily, and it sounds like the 2/3 reading and the 4/5 writing will fit your ds just right. I did this all of the time when tutoring dc with DITHOR, and also with my own ds - his reading was ahead of his writing, so we had the opposite scenario, and that worked well too.
